Send a domain you already own to your FarmScout page

If your market bought a web address years ago and never built a site, you can keep it. With a setting called "forwarding", anyone who types your address lands on your FarmScout page instead. It costs nothing extra and takes about five minutes.

First: where did you buy your domain?

Look for an old receipt or renewal email - it will come from the company that sold it to you (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, Google Domains, Wix and so on). Sign in there with that email. Can't remember? Text the domain to 631-223-8885 and we'll look it up for you.

GoDaddy

1. Sign in at godaddy.com and open your Domain Portfolio.
2. Click your domain to open its Domain Settings.
3. Click DNS, then the Forwarding tab.
4. Click Add Forwarding and choose Domain.
5. Pick https:// and paste your FarmScout page address (without the https:// part, since you already picked it).
6. For the forwarding type choose Permanent (301). Don't choose "Forward with masking" - it can show a blank page.
7. Click Save. GoDaddy may ask you to confirm it's you with a code.

Namecheap

1. Sign in at namecheap.com and go to your list of domains.
2. Click Manage next to your domain.
3. Find the Redirect Domain section and click Add Redirect.
4. In Source URL enter your domain; in Destination URL paste your FarmScout page address.
5. Click the green checkmark to save. Add a second one with www in front of your domain so both versions work.
6. If Namecheap shows a warning about other records for the same domain, text us at 631-223-8885 and we'll tell you which one to remove.

Squarespace (and old Google Domains)

Google Domains moved to Squarespace, so if you bought it from Google, sign in at squarespace.com with the same Google account.

1. Sign in and open Domains.
2. Click your domain.
3. Look for the forwarding setting in the domain's settings.
4. Paste your FarmScout page address and choose a permanent (301) redirect if it asks.
5. Save. If you can't find it, text us at 631-223-8885 - Squarespace moves these menus around now and then, and we'll point you to it.

Wix

Wix doesn't have a simple "forward my domain" button for domains bought from Wix. It can be done by changing two settings - text us at 631-223-8885 and we'll tell you exactly which ones.

Somewhere else?

Almost every company that sells domains calls this forwarding or redirect. Look for that word in your domain's settings, paste your FarmScout page address, and pick permanent (301). Stuck? Text us at 631-223-8885.

How do I know it worked?

Changes can take up to an hour. Then type your domain into your phone's browser - it should open your FarmScout page. If it doesn't after a few hours, text us at 631-223-8885 and we'll check it from our end.
